Charles Lane, who died this week at the age of 102, probably originated the "oh him" term for character actors. I know I've seen at least a dozen of the roles listed for him, but I never connected them or knew his name. For two decades it looks like most of his roles were uncredited by the studios, so it is not surprising we didn't know him even though he acted in approximately 300 roles over 70 years, from You Can't Take it With You to the Dark Shadows revival.

And just to add some really weird news to my weird news roundup, a man recently robbed a bank dressed as a tree. Puns abound: the first sentence is "Leaf it to New Hampshire" but they missed the opportunity to say that he robbed the bank branch while wearing actual branches.
