Strangest wine gadget I've ever heard of: an inventor has made an ultrasound machine shaped like a wine bucket that ages wine. You put in a cheap young bottle of wine and it comes out 30 minutes later tasting like a fine aged vintage.
James Earl Jones has received many awards over the years, but his first SAG award will be the Lifetime Achievement award. It will be presented in January.
John Mahoney (aka Frasier's dad) will guest star on Burn Notice in February, and rumors are already flying over who he might be playing (one of these choices was confirmed: old boss, "dead" father, one of the powerful people behind the burn notice, or Carla's handler).
Here is the corrected link for the website posting Neil Gaiman readings from the Graveyard Book tour.
Fox has given Fringe a full season order. I guess that means it is safe for me to start watching the episodes piling up on my DVR.
Space.com has a great Hubble image to celebrate the 10th anniversary.
Super Punch has some great retro posters for planetary travel (and links to some for time travel).
We will get to see Amanda Tapping back in Stargate, not just in Sanctuary. She confirmed this week that she is in the Atlantis finale as well as a 3rd SG-1 movie and the Atlantis movie.
Toshiba has a new battery that charges to 90% in 10 minutes and can be recharged 5,000-6,000 times (not just 500).

First, sorry for all of the fascinating news I missed. I didn't spend more than a few minutes online in the 10 days I was gone, and some news sources don't display that long in their feeds.
I'm back from Worldcon. It was lots of fun. Photos (not mine) can be found at http://www.flickr.com/photos/arwensouth/collections/72157606586226770/ or

SF Signal has a great list of Worldcon reports and other photo collections.
The Hugo awards were announced. Most of the awards went to either my 1st or 2nd choices, so I'm pretty pleased. Here is the list of winners with a link to the voting results.
Locus has a listing of the other awards presented at Worldcon (Sidewise, Golden Duck, etc.)
Lois McMaster Bujold has posted her Guest of Honor speech on her MySpace blog.
NPR has a 4.5 minute interview with Michael Chabon about The Yiddish Policemen's Union.
RIP Bernie Mac, Isaac Hayes, and Bernie Brillstein.
BBC America has renewed Robin Hood for a 3rd season, and Jonas Armstrong (who plays Robin Hood) has announced it will be his last.
Sara Gilbert is moving from guest star to series regular on Big Bang Theory this fall.
Michael Shanks will have a recurring role on Burn Notice starting with tonight's episode.
Christopher Lloyd has joined the cast of the upcoming SciFi mini-series Mirabilis.
Next year, after the conclusion of Battlestar Galactica, SciFi will air a 2-hour Battlestar Galactica movie that takes place just before the 2003 miniseries.
Harry Potter 6 is changing its release date from November 2008 to July 2009.
JJ Abrams is planning his next movie, an earthquake disaster film.
In other movie news, Lionsgate is planning a new Conan movie, and Universal has acquired the rights to The Wheel of Time (I don't envy the scriptwriter who has to turn 12 thick books into a coherent story).
A German study shows that Methadone kills Leukemia cells without damaging healthy cells.
A new cell-mixing technique may eliminate the need for anti-rejection drugs for transplant patients.

The Locus Award finalists have been announced. A few of the things I voted for even made the list. Winners will be announced June 21st.
Tricia Helfer (6 on Battlestar Galactica) will have a multi-episode arc on Burn Notice.
Lois McMaster Bujold has shared what she likes & what inspired the Sharing Knife books over at Eos.
8 previously unknown silent film shorts (trailers, newsreels, and one-reel movies) from 1912-1927 have been found in Australia. They will be shipped to a Dutch restoration library, corrected in America, then new preservation masters will be sent to Australia & the US. I'm amazed that they are still salvageable after all this time. Most film from then hasn't survived.
DVRs for tonight:
8pm My Name is Earl
830 Scrubs
9pm CSI, Grey's Anatomy & Supernatural
10pm Lost

Burn Notice has been renewed for a 2nd season. The ratings have actually been getting better since the debut.

Paul McGillon talks about Dr. Beckett returning from the dead. The article also mentions we'll see Teal'c on Atlantis.

Colin Hanks is making a movie that doesn't have Jack Black in it. ;)

The TV Guide guy has a bunch of rumors today: Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars) is being considered for a new character on Lost, semi-spoiler for Grey's Anatomy, 2 plot details for Bones, Alan Ruck (Cameron from Ferris Bueller) will play the University Dean on Greek's season finale, etc.

ROFL. Check out the Cereal Killer boxes at this site. I think my favorite is Postmort-MMMMs: the arsenic coated oat cereal.
